You know how you
always say “I’d love to do that class…”, but somehow when it comes to it all
manner of things get in the way and you just don’t have the time to commit to
those weekly classes? Well, here’s the solution; monthly one day workshops that
have been designed with that in mind, giving you a much needed injection of “me
time”! You don’t need to have any knowledge of Spanish Dance or any other dance
form. In this course we start at the beginning covering the principles of
flamenco movement and rhythm. This course is ideal for beginners and improvers
alike as it allows everyone to work at a pace that suits them.
What can I expect?
Class One: Technique
(1.30pm – 2.30pm)
The technique class is
for students of all levels including Juniors (10 years +) and covers the
principles of flamenco movement: posture, arms, hands, turns, footwork and
Palmas (hand clapping). It also offers an introduction to the use of castanets,
fans and the Cordoba’s hat and covers fundamental steps, compass (rhythm) and
styles; building confidence and knowledge.
Class Two: Dance (3pm –
4pm)
In
this class you will study a complete choreography, such as Rumba, Tangos and
Farucca, and is suitable for beginners, improvers and Juniors. Beginners will
have an opportunity to develop their confidence and style whilst improvers will
have an opportunity to consolidate their knowledge.
Class Three: Dance
(4.30pm – 5.30pm)
This class is aimed at improvers and for those beginners wishing to be
challenged. Choreography will include the more complex 12 beat Flamenco rhythms
such as Solea, Bulerias and Alegrias.
